A Small Victory

A few weeks ago, I shot a few portraits (and did a tape sync) for ProPublica of Suzanna Wertheim, an Oakland resident who had been given the runaround for a year and a half trying to get her mortgage modified after losing her job and finding out she had terminal cancer in the same day.

Karen Weise published a profile of her ordeal on ProPublica, which then got picked up on the Rachel Maddow show.

Two days after her appearance on Rachel Maddow, she got a call from Wells Fargo that her loan modification was approved.

Sometimes the work we do does make a difference, even if it’s very small.
